How to start the demo
- Press the “Start the demo” button in the frame above. The game does not load until you do, so the page opens quickly even on a weak connection.
- Wait for the loading bar to fill. The slot downloads graphics and sound, and the first time this can take up to a minute.
- Close the intro screen, where the game briefly reminds you of the main rules.
- Set the bet with the “+” and “−” buttons next to the spin button and begin.
On a phone the game is more comfortable in landscape. If the frame still feels cramped, the link beneath it opens the slot full-screen in a separate tab.
What the demo can do
The demo is the very same game with the same mathematical core, only with virtual credits in place of money. Every feature works: tumbles, multipliers, free spins, Ante Bet and the bonus buy. The paytable and rules open with the same “i” button as in the real slot.
The demo balance is not infinite, but it is easy to restore. Reload the page and the credits return to their starting value. That lets you run any experiment, including ones no real budget would stretch to.
A half-hour plan: what to test
Simply spinning the reels is useful, but a small experiment with notes teaches far more. Take a sheet of paper or the notes app on your phone and go through three stages.
- A hundred spins at one bet. Write down the starting balance and do not change the bet. After the hundredth spin, see how much is left and count how many times the win exceeded the bet. There are usually far fewer such spins than it feels like.
- A hundred spins with Ante Bet. Switch the option on and repeat. Notice how many times free spins landed and how the rate of spending changed, since every spin now costs a quarter more.
- Ten bonus buys in a row. Note how many bets each round returned. You will see how widely the results vary and how often a round fails to return its hundred bets.
After this exercise you will have your own picture of the slot, based on three hundred or so spins. That is little in statistical terms, but incomparably more honest than a compilation of someone else's lucky moments.
How the demo differs from real-money play
| Parameter | Demo | Play at an operator |
|---|---|---|
| Balance | Virtual credits, restorable | Your money |
| Currency | US dollars | Depends on the operator |
| Bet limits | Standard for the demo | Set by the operator |
| RTP percentage | Stated in the demo rules | May be lower; check the rules |
| Bonus buy | Usually available | May be disabled |
| Registration | Not needed | Required, with an identity check |
The main difference is psychological, though. In the demo it is easy to buy a bonus for a hundred bets and calmly watch it return fifteen. With real money the same result feels entirely different, and the decisions that follow are different too. The demo teaches the rules, but it does not show how you yourself will behave after a loss.
Demos of the other games in the series
Every sequel has a demo of its own, and they are worth running separately because the maths differs from game to game. The page on all Gates of Olympus versions embeds the demos of Gates of Olympus 1000, Xmas 1000, Dice and Super Scatter. The games are easiest to compare in the same way: a hundred spins each at the same bet.
If the game will not open
- An empty frame. An ad blocker is usually to blame. Turn it off for this page and refresh.
- Endless loading. Check your connection and try another network: office and guest networks sometimes block gaming servers.
- The game is cut off on a phone. Rotate the screen or use the “Open in a new tab” link.
- No sound. Browsers block audio until the first tap. Touch the game screen and check the speaker icon in its settings.
What the demo will not show
A lucky run in the demo promises nothing. Every spin is independent of the ones before it, and the slot has no memory of having been generous recently. In the same way, an unlucky run does not mean the next one will be better. Nor does the demo reveal the return setting at a particular operator: that has to be read in the game rules on the operator's own site.
Treat the demo as a simulator. It explains how the game is built very well and says almost nothing about how your next session will end.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to register to play the Gates of Olympus demo?
No. The demo starts with one button right on the page. No account, email, phone number or bank card is required.
Can I win real money in the demo?
No. The game runs on virtual credits that have no monetary value. They cannot be withdrawn or exchanged, but nothing can be lost in the demo either.
Is the demo the same as the real slot?
The rules, symbols, multipliers and bonus round are the same. The currency, bet limits, RTP setting and bonus buy availability may differ, since the operator decides them.
